FootnoteShift

It transforms the actual content of a sentence by relocating whole words. The original line keeps a placeholder, while the word lives in a reversible footnote rail.

Possible use

It could make a reviewer quarantine debatable words in a handoff note, or let a presenter demote agenda terms into a running scholarly apparatus.

Reasonable alternative

A reasonable local alternative is an annotation or footnote supplied by the page. Moving prose around one click at a time is not editorial tooling.

Mechanism

1: Start with every word inline and an empty footnote rail.
2: Click any word to move its actual content into a numbered note.
3: The sentence keeps a visible gap and the note can move back.
4: Restore the sentence when the scholarship has become excessive.
